The fall of the Berlin Wall and the abolition of border controls within Europe seemed to herald the dawn of a new era of openness. But in the age of Donald Trump and Co. more walls exist worldwide than in 1989. On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the group exhibition ‘Walls Come Tumbling Down!’ is dedicated to this past and simultaneously very present subject – with works by Renaud De Gambs, Fanny Duval, Leonard Freed, Daniel Müller Jansen, Wolfgang Krolow, Will McBride, Max Scheler, Kai Wiedenhöfer und Günter Zint. In addition to photographs of the Berlin Wall, current works show that the traces of division are still visible in the cityscape today. Photographs of barriers and demarcations around the world also raise the question of what all these walls reveal about the state of our world today.
