— Part I: Behind Desire

The group exhibition "Behind Desire" intends to introduce the different facets of eroticism and explore the mechanisms of desire in art photography.

Going beyond the mere presentation of erotic images, to investigate the complex perception of erotic sensations, stimulated by photographs and literary extracts. In a society increasingly dominated by sex and pornography, awareness to the significance of eroticism needs to be raised.

A participatory journey through the exhibition will enable an intimate discovery. At the same time a critical examination of the notion of eroticism, which is shaped by patriarchy, must be emphasized.

"Behind Desire" opens the exhibition series EROS & PHOTOGRAPHY, featuring the first insights into the CHAUSSEE 36 Collection, which specializes in nude and erotic photography. With every further exhibition new themes of eroticism will be examined. This is supplemented through contemporary positions.

Die Gruppenausstellung „Behind Desire“ möchte in die verschiedenen Facetten der Erotik einführen und die Mechanismen des Begehrens in der Kunstfotografie untersuchen.

Sie geht über die öffentliche Präsentation von erotischen Bildern hinaus, um der Frage nach dem komplexen Verständnis des erotischen Empfindens, anhand von Fotografien und Auszügen aus der Literatur nachzugehen. In einer zunehmend von Sex und Pornographie geprägten Gesellschaft, soll das Bewusstsein für die Bedeutung der Erotik geweckt werden.

Ein partizipativer Parcour durch die Ausstellung wird eine intimistische Entdeckung ermöglichen. Zugleich wird auch ein kritischer Blick auf die vom Patriarchat geprägte Vorstellung von Erotik geworfen.

„ Behind Desire“ eröffnet die Ausstellungsreihe EROS & PHOTOGRAPHY, mit der Chaussee 36 erstmals auch Einblicke in die Sammlung CHAUSSEE 36 gewährt , die sich auf Akt- und Erotikfotografie spezialisiert. Mit jeder weiteren Ausstellung folgen neue Thematiken der Erotik. Ergänzt wird dies durch zeitgenössische Positionen.
