We are pleased to present our former exhibition "Women on View - Aesthetics of Desire in Advertising" at frauen museum Wiesbaden as of September 2020!
With over 100 photographs and print advertisements, the group exhibition focuses on the eroticization of the female body in advertising photography in the second half of the 20th century.
Legendary photographs by renowned artists will be presented such as Erwin Blumenfeld, Guy Bourdin, Michel Comte, Patrick Demarchelier, Hans Feurer, Francis Giacobetti, Horst P. Horst, Frank Horvat, Peter Lindbergh, Helmut Newton, Norman Parkinson, Irving Penn, Denis Piel, Regina Relang, Franco Rubartelli, Jeanloup Sieff, Melvin Sokolsky, Herb Ritts, Karin Székessy, Ellen von Unwerth, Albert Watson, to name but a few.
On the one hand, the exhibition illustrates the different ways in which women are portrayed in advertising. On the other hand, it questions the reciprocal influences of fashion and advertising photography in the creation of aesthetic standards.
